The motorcycle yard test determines standard objectives for the motorcyclist’s actions. The standards are programmed into the Motorcycle skills testing unit (K53) measuring equipment for the test official’s convenience. These point scoring standards are classified into two categories:
Time – how long it takes the motorcyclist to cross the time measuring zone (speed zone).
Distance – how far the motorcycle moves before it stops and how wide it turns during an exercise.
In each category the motorcyclist will be penalized (by point allocation) for any prescribed fault made.
In order to aid the test official to adhere to the above mentioned standard objectives, the Motorcycle skills testing unit (K53) measuring equipment is programmed with a conversion table to assist with the point scoring. The Motorcycle skills testing unit (K53) measuring equipment consists of an integrated time/signal light system, a stopwatch resides in the digital display clipboard which is coupled to the signal light system. In this setup, the stopwatch activates the signal lights and the digital display clipboard automatically displays the standard stop/turn distances that relate to the motorcyclists speed. This combined system eases the test official’s task in ensuring accurate time readings.
